SUMMARY:séminaire HENDRIK HÖLSCHER
DESCRIPTION:Nano- and micro-structured surfaces\nInspired by butterflies\, beetles and water ferns\n\nABSTRACT:\n\n\nVarious nanostructured surfaces found in nature look random at first sight. A closer look\, however\, frequently reveals that randomness helps to improve useful properties ranging from self-cleaning to anti-reflection. Here\, we present several examples of natural surfaces serving as prototypes for nano- and microstructured surfaces. Applications range from structural colors to high performance optical surfaces for solar cells and materials for the cleaning of oil-spills.

\nLi-ion batteries are currently used in our daily life applications\, however\, the limited lithium resources push researchers to look for alternative sources. Sodium which is abundant and cheap is considered one of the most promising solution for next generation of batteries. In such Na-ion batteries\, hard carbon proved to be an efficient material to store energy. We will see in this presentation what it is a hard carbon\, how we can prepare them using bio-sourced precursors\, which are their main properties and how they impact the battery performances.  Moreover\, the involved storage mechanisms will be discussed along with the presentation of the first Na-ion battery prototype (see Figure).
