Biomimetic systems and interfaces

Laurent Pieuchot, Tatiana Petithory, Isabelle Brigaud, Arnaud Ponche.

We derive nano- and microscale architectures from nature to create molecular biointerfaces and microactuators. For example, we are using virus-like nanoscale self-assemblies to create bioactive nanoscaffolds that can bind cell receptors and stimulate clustering to control various cell functions such as migration, proliferation, and differentiation. We are also interested in R-bodies, 500nm ribbons that can switch to a 20µm needle and back to the rolled form in milliseconds upon pH change. We are exploring the use of these micromachines for the development of dynamic microsystems.
