Green fibrous composites for lightweight materials
30 mai 2018 - 10h30 - 11h30
Le séminaire sera présenté par Dr Nuttapong Hariwongsanupab, du PTT Research and Technology Institute (Thaïlande).
Abstract :
Recently, the development of green composites has been gaining more interest and attention due to the depleting petroleum reserves and environmental awareness. Natural fiber is the one of green fillers with high strength that can be used to reinforce polymer materials. Short and fine pineapple leaf fiber (PALF) has been successfully developed and used to reinforce polymers such as natural rubber, polypropylene and nylon. The key factor is to improve the stress transfer between polymer and PALF due to the difference of polarities between them. Many methods had been used to improve the properties such as the incorporation of compatibilizer and fiber surface treatments. To produce the end-used products in a larger scale, the important factors e.g. processability, raw materials and production costs will be studied. The important problems and solutions will be also presented.
