Most transient species involved in chemical reactions (singlet excited states, triplet excited states, radicals) can be studied (UV-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, single photon counting, laser flash photolysis, etc.). With the addition of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and molecular modelling, it is therefore possible to identify reaction mechanisms and measure reaction rate constants.
Stability and accelerated ageing studies of resins or polymers can also be carried out with the possibility of identifying the radicals involved (EPR), enabling stabilisation strategies to be proposed.
