With the rapid development of photopolymerisation in academic and industrial applications, the design of new photopolymerisation initiator systems is necessary. These new photoinitiators must be easily and quickly accessible from commercial, non-toxic compounds, cover a wide range of wavelengths (from UV to near-infrared) and perform well in terms of irradiation conditions (mild conditions) and uses for all types of polymerisation (radical, cationic, anionic, polyaddition, etc.). Understanding photochemical mechanisms is also an important factor in the development of these photoinitiator systems.
