Cell-Scale Curvature mechanosensing

Laurent Pieuchot, Karine Anselme, Tatiana Petithory, Isabelle Brigaud

We investigate the role of curvature in shaping biological processes. Our research explores how single cells and tissues integrate cell-scale curvature cues, influencing migration, morphogenesis, cell shape, and gene expression. We are particularly interested in the effects of curvature on cell metabolism and epigenetics, comparing it to other biophysical factors like stiffness. At the micron scale, we study R-body proteins, whose shape-shifting ability is driven by pH-induced changes in curvature orientation.
