The development of new organic molecules that are photosensitive under near-UV or visible light is currently attracting considerable interest in both the materials and fine chemicals sectors. One area of research within the PM2P thematic axis is molecular modelling followed by the development of short and efficient synthesis methodologies for original photosensitive molecules. These molecules then find numerous applications, particularly in photopolymerisation reactions. Another potential application for these molecules is in the field of organic chemistry, where they can be used to develop new reactions under near-UV or visible light. The radical species generated by these molecules under irradiation are mostly original and have considerable potential for synthetic chemistry.
