The development of dual cure systems (polymerisable following two activations : photochemical coupled with thermal ; photochemical coupled with redox) is an ideal solution for the polymerisation of thick or filled samples in which light penetration is difficult. Effective photopolymerisation in irradiated areas combined with a second polymerisation mode (not requiring light : redox or thermal) for complete polymerisation in shadow areas.
This work on unconventional photopolymerisation processes is also extended in our research area to orthogonal chemistries (e.g. interpenetrating networks) or frontal (photo)polymerisation.
